Pottery Wheels

Pottery wheels, ceramics wheels and throwing wheels for UK studios — from beginner starter packages to production studio machines. Every wheel on this page is in stock in our Colchester warehouse and ships on a tracked next-day service for most UK addresses.

Potters wheel or ceramics wheel — what's the difference? Nothing. The terms are interchangeable, and every model here works equally well for thrown pottery, porcelain work or ceramic sculpture. What matters is motor power, torque and build quality for the work you actually want to do.

How to choose a pottery wheel:

  • Motor power — 200–400W suits beginners, hobby use and small thrown work up to ~5kg. 500W+ if you're centring 7kg+ or running a teaching studio.
  • Drive type — belt drive runs quieter and is easier to service. Direct drive gives more immediate torque response and fewer moving parts.
  • Starter package vs wheel only — packages include a bat, throwing tools and an apron; worth the saving if you're kitting out from scratch. Wheel-only if you already have a toolkit.
  • Home vs studio — most wheels here run on a standard 13-amp UK plug, so they're fine for a home kitchen or garage setup. See our 13-amp pottery kilns if you're building a full home setup.

Pair any wheel here with one of our home pottery kilns to complete a studio, or browse accessories for bats, splash pans and throwing tools.
