What to know:

  • Capacity — kilns up to about 2.5–3 kW run from a 13A socket, which in practice covers most kilns up to around 60L
  • Temperature — most models reach 1300°C, covering the full ceramic firing range. Bench-top enamelling and jewellery kilns such as the K&F CU2 are rated lower, so check the individual product page
  • Best for — beginners, home studios, and anyone who wants to start firing without installation overhead
