Good questions
I've never done pottery. Is the Poppy enough?
For mugs, small bowls and learning to centre, yes. If you think you'll want to throw bigger, or you want batts, tools and a stool in the same box, the Daisy saves you a second shopping list.
Can I really use it in a kitchen or a flat?
Yes, with two rules. Put a splash mat or dust sheet down, and keep a bucket for rinsing. Never use the sink: clay settles in drains and sets hard. Let the bucket settle overnight, pour off the clear water, and reclaim the clay.
Can I run it from a portable power station?
Yes. Choose one whose continuous output is comfortably above the wheel's motor: 150W for the Poppy, 300W for the Daisy and 800W for the Thistle. A larger battery means a longer session. Ring us before you buy one and we'll tell you what we've tested.
Daisy or Thistle?
Most home potters never need the Thistle. It's for the day you feel a wheel hesitate under heavy clay, or you want to throw big pieces or long runs. It comes as the wheel and pedal only, so you're not paying twice for tools and a stool you already own.
