VEVOR Pottery Wheel vs Kiln Crafts Poppy

Comparing a VEVOR wheel?

A £150 wheel or an £800 one? The honest difference.

VEVOR wheels cost a fraction of ours, and that's a real reason to look at one. Here's what the difference in price actually buys, so you can decide if it's worth it to you.

How much clay can it centre?

The most clay the maker or UK retailer says the wheel can centre in one go.

What that means in real life: a mug takes roughly half a kilo of clay, and a big serving bowl 2–3kg. A whole 12.5kg bag in one go is a very large pot. Most people throwing at home never come close to the limit of any wheel here, so big numbers matter far less than they look.

What it costs to start throwing

The wheel, plus batts, tools and a stool if it doesn't come with them.

For any wheel that doesn't include batts, tools and a stool, we've added £149, the price of our Wheel Accessory Pack. That's a like-for-like allowance, not a quote. Delivery isn't included for any wheel.

Will it fit?

Each wheel's floor space, drawn to scale next to a dining chair. Change the wheels above and this updates.

Footprints are the maker's or UK retailer's published dimensions. Leave room around the wheel to sit and move.

The honest bit

Where VEVOR comes out ahead

  • The price. A VEVOR wheel has been listed from around £147, which makes it a cheap way to find out if you like throwing.
  • Tools and an apron come in the box.
  • Light and easy to move (13–15kg).

Where ours are different

  • A 3-year warranty we handle ourselves, fixed or replaced. VEVOR's UK policy is 12 months.
  • A UK team you can ring. VEVOR's UK site lists live chat and a contact form, with no UK phone number.
  • We publish what the wheel can centre. VEVOR doesn't state a centring capacity for these wheels.
  • Hall-effect pedal, a push-button splash pan and a wipe-clean top.

Questions people ask

Can I buy a VEVOR wheel right now?

When we checked, several VEVOR wheels were listed as out of stock on vevor.co.uk, and the one available on Amazon UK was sold by Amazon US. Availability changes, so check the listing.

Is a cheap wheel fine for a beginner?

It can be. Check what it can centre, what the warranty covers and who you'd call if something goes wrong. If you just want to find out whether you love pottery for as little as possible, a cheap wheel or a local class is a fair place to start.

What does the 30-day home trial mean?

Set the wheel up at home and throw on it. If it isn't right for you within 30 days of it arriving, send it back for a full refund. It applies to our own wheels: Poppy, Daisy and Thistle.
