The Maximum Top-Loading Option

The Topworker 225 is the point where top-loading capacity ends and front-loading begins — and for studios that prefer top-loading access, it's the answer to the question of how large you can go. At 225 litres, a single firing handles the output of a genuinely high-volume studio or a large-scale educational programme.

The insulation specification at this size is premium: 108mm Ultralite granular insulation in the floor, 76mm insulation brick walls backed with 25mm boards, and an 88.5mm insulated lid. At 225 litres, the thermal mass of the chamber is significant — the quality of insulation has a direct effect on firing efficiency, consistency of results across the full chamber volume, and running costs over time.

The gas spring lid replaces the gas strut used on smaller Topworkers — at this size, a gas spring is the right mechanism for safe, controlled lid operation. 76mm lockable castors keep the kiln mobile when positioning is needed and stable during firing. Built in Stoke-on-Trent, with full Potterycrafts factory spare parts support.

What the Topworker 225 Delivers

225-Litre Premium-Insulated Chamber

The largest Topworker — 225 litres with premium insulation specification throughout. The cube-shaped internal chamber (65cm × 65cm × 65cm) is a practical shape for maximising loading efficiency — consistent dimensions in all directions mean fewer awkward gaps and more usable volume per firing. The premium insulation keeps operating costs as low as possible for a kiln of this scale.

Gas Spring Lid and 76mm Castors

At 225 litres, the lid is substantial — a gas spring is the right mechanism for safe, smooth operation. Unlike gas struts used on smaller kilns, a gas spring provides more consistent assistance across the full range of lid movement, making loading safer and more comfortable. The 76mm lockable castors are larger than those on smaller Topworkers, sized appropriately for the kiln's weight and footprint.
