The Right Step Up From a Compact Kiln
The move from 40 litres to 60 is the point at which hobby potters find their firing capacity stops being the limiting factor. A 60-litre chamber gives you enough room to fire a proper mixed load — multiple mugs and bowls at different heights, a shelf of tiles, or a combination of pieces that would mean two firings in a smaller kiln.
The Comet 60 sits in the Potterycrafts range as the step up from the Aurora — still a top-loading design, still straightforward to use, but with the additional capacity that makes a real difference to a potter who fires regularly. Like all Potterycrafts kilns, it's built in Stoke-on-Trent with the quality and durability the brand has been known for across Europe.
Note that at 5.5kW, the Comet 60 requires a dedicated 32A single-phase supply installed by a qualified electrician — it can't run from a standard 13A socket. If you need plug-in convenience, the Aurora 40 is the option. If you're ready for the step up to a proper electrical circuit and want 60 litres, the Comet is the right choice.
