The Raku 100 is a properly-built purpose-made raku kiln — not a repurposed electric kiln with a burner wedged into it. Nabertherm have designed it from the ground up for outdoor raku firing with proper insulation, a safe burner setup, and the right chamber geometry for raku atmosphere work.
100 litres is a sensible chamber size for serious raku work: fits a full firing of medium pieces but small enough to be portable between studio and outdoor firing area. Propane-fired, so you get rapid heat-up and proper atmosphere control for the reductive post-firing that defines raku.
Raku accessories (gloves, burner kit, temperature gauge, bottle connection) are sold separately so you can configure the kit you actually need.
Designed specifically for gas raku firing — not a converted electric kiln. The insulation, chamber shape and burner port are all optimised for raku.
Propane firing gets you to raku temperature in well under an hour — far faster than an electric kiln.
