Solid pine, left bare so you decide how it lives. Give it a coat of oil or wax and it'll shrug off water; leave it as it is and it'll darken and mark with use, which plenty of potters prefer. The honest bit: untreated means untreated — if you never seal it and keep a wet sponge on it, it will stain. If that would bother you, the Perspex top is the one.
A clear acrylic top that wipes clean in seconds and doesn't care about slip, water or glaze. It keeps the shelf feeling light and lets the teal frame show through. It will pick up fine scratches over time, as any acrylic does, but it won't stain or swell. The pick if you'd rather clean up fast and not think about it.
The shelf legs come in two fits. If your Daisy arrived before October 2026, choose Gen 1. If you've got the new Daisy or a Poppy, choose Gen 2 — the two wheels share the same frame, so the same legs fit both. Not sure? One of the small frustrations of throwing at a compact wheel is figuring out where everything lives while you work. Tools on the floor get kicked. A separate side table is never quite the right height. A water bowl that's not quite where you want it breaks your rhythm every time you reach for it.
The Daisy Wheel Shelf is the tidy answer. It bolts directly onto the wheel's frame to give you a proper work surface right at the wheel — somewhere for your tools, your water bowl, your sponges and the next pot waiting to come off the head. Because it's part of the wheel rather than a separate piece of furniture, it doesn't add to your footprint and it doesn't move when you do.
And because we make the Daisy and the Poppy ourselves, this isn't a generic shelf that we've adapted to fit. Every measurement, mounting point and bolt is designed for these wheels — so it lines up first time and stays where you put it.
The shelf is built specifically for our wheels — same footprint, same teal powder-coated finish, same mounting points. It bolts directly onto the frame so it sits flush, doesn't wobble, and looks like it was always meant to be there. No adapters, no shimming, no guesswork.
Pine if you like a natural surface that takes on character; Perspex if you want to wipe it down and move on. Both sit on the same steel frame at the same height, so the choice is purely about how you like to clean up — there's no wrong answer.
Everything you need is in the box — the shelf top, the steel legs for your wheel, and all the hardware. The only tool you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver. Most people are fitted and ready to throw within ten minutes of opening the box.
