Hand-rolling slabs is effective but slow, inconsistent, and physically demanding when you're doing it repeatedly. A good clayroller produces even slabs of consistent thickness quickly and without effort — and the G602 adds 300mm of additional rolling length over the G601 for potters and hand-builders whose work demands the wider format.
The rack and pinion drive is what distinguishes a well-engineered clayroller from a basic one. By linking both sides of the roller through a mechanical drive, the rack and pinion system ensures the roller descends evenly across its full width — no twisting, no one side lower than the other, no inconsistent slab thickness. Every pass gives you a flat, even slab at exactly the thickness you set.
The rust-proof roller matters in a studio environment where humidity is part of daily life. And the collapsible frame means the G602 doesn't need to be left in position permanently — you can fold it down and reclaim the floor space when it's not in use.
The G602 is 300mm longer than the G601 — an extension that makes a real difference when working on larger projects.
