Kilns & FurnacesCU2 Home Pottery Kiln

A compact bench-mounted kiln for enamel work, jewellery making, and low-fire ceramic processes. 8.2 litres, 900°C maximum, spiral wound elements with bottom heat — and the ST215C digital controller included as standard.

  • 8.2-litre bench-top chamber: Compact and efficient — sized for jewellery pieces, enamel work, test tiles, and small ceramic firings.
  • 900°C maximum temperature: Designed for low-fire applications — enamel, glass, jewellery, and earthenware processes that don't need ceramic stoneware temperatures.
  • Bottom element for base heat: The CU2's element beneath the base refractory batt makes it ideal for processes that benefit from heat applied from below — particularly enamel work and jewellery.
  • ST215C controller included: Unlike the Falcon range where the controller is optional, the CU2 comes with the ST215C digital control system as standard.
  • 2m lead — requires electrician connection: Comes ready to connect to a single-phase supply by a qualified electrician.

Built for Low-Fire and Specialist Work

The CU2 is a bench-mounted kiln designed specifically for the processes where a standard ceramic kiln is either too large, too hot, or too slow to heat up for what you need. Enamel work, jewellery making, glass beadwork, and low-fire ceramic applications all benefit from a compact, purpose-built kiln that reaches the right temperature quickly and holds it precisely.

The element beneath the base refractory batt is a design feature specific to the CU range — it delivers heat from below, which is the preferred approach for enamel work and jewellery processes where base heat gives better results than side-wall elements alone. At 8.2 litres and 900°C maximum, this is a specialised tool for specialised work.

Unlike most kilns at this price point where the digital controller is an optional extra, the CU2 includes the ST215C digital control system as standard. You get precise temperature programming out of the box without a separate purchase.

The CU2 Is Right For You If

  • You do enamel work or jewellery making and need a dedicated low-fire kiln
  • You work with glass or other processes that need base heat
  • You want a compact bench-top kiln for small-scale specialist firings
  • You want the ST215C digital controller included in the base price
  • The CU4's 900°C limit is appropriate for your applications

What the CU2 Delivers

8.2L Bench-Top Chamber

Small enough to sit on your workbench, close to where you work — not a floor-standing kiln that needs its own dedicated space. The 8.2-litre chamber is sized for the scale of enamel, jewellery, and small ceramic work: big enough to fire a meaningful batch, compact enough not to dominate your workspace. Internal dimensions of 30cm × 30cm × 10cm (H) provide a flat, wide base for laying work flat — appropriate for enamel and glass applications.

Bottom Element for Base Heat

The element positioned beneath the base refractory batt is a purposeful design choice for low-fire specialist applications. In enamel work and jewellery processes, heat applied from below the work can produce better, more even results than heat from the sides alone. The CU2's element configuration makes it a better fit for these applications than a standard top-loading kiln adapted to the purpose.

ST215C Digital Controller Included

Precise temperature control with the ST215C digital system — programmable firing cycles, accurate temperature readout, and the control over ramp rates and hold times that specialist applications require. Included in the base price rather than as an optional extra, which is what it should be for a kiln intended for precision work.

Top ventilation port and plug for airflow control. Low thermal mass insulation brick lining for efficient heating. Requires connection to a single-phase supply by a qualified electrician — comes with a 2m lead. Not suitable for stoneware or high-fire ceramics: 900°C is the maximum.
